Mott MacDonald carried out the technical and environmental due diligence review of a Dutch power generation platform being developed by Castleton Commodities International LLC (CCI) in connection with the recently closed financing for the portfolio. Mott MacDonald acted as the lenders’ technical and environmental advisor and will continue its services post close.

The plants consist of two large combined cycle gas turbine (CCGT) power plants – the 870MW Enecogen and 426MW MaasStroom plants, both located in Rotterdam.

The plants are amongst the cleanest and most efficient gas-fired power stations in the Netherlands, with low carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions, and high electrical efficiency. The plants produce enough electricity to serve more than two million households – both in the Netherlands and in large parts of Germany through high-voltage grid.

Guillaume Wolf, Mott MacDonald’s project principal, said: “This complex transaction illustrates the strategic importance of efficient and flexible gas plants during the energy market transition to low carbon. Our experienced team delivered regular, transparent communication with the various stakeholders of the project, which helped enable its success.”
